Tonight, is my first NHL hockey game. The Canucks play St. Louis at home. We will see how this turns out.

Oh, what I forgot: it rained on Thursday. Not normal rain, but Vancouver-style rain. :-) There were a *110 mm* of rain on one day. This is the most rain on one day in Vancouver since 1975.

I don't know but for some reason my last posts were not showing up on the homepage, I believe...
Anyways, I handed in my thesis a couple of days ago and now wait for feedback. So keep your fingers crossed that everything is alright. :-)
I met with some people today and went to Science World. This is a really fun interactive museum. Well, it is like a museum, but it actually explains stuff like physics etc. Check out their website to get an idea what I am talking about.
Well, another big thing happened last weekend: Katja and me flew to Calgary on Friday morning. We rented a car and drove to the Rocky Mountains. As Monday was Thanksgiving, we had an extra long weekend. I am too lazy right now to write in detail about the weekend. Just check out the photos. One thing that I would like to mention and didn't take a photo of: we overtook a train. Trains are much longer than the ones in Germany, but I never sat down to actually count the train's cars. Well, this time we did. *125* cars! And the train was going at about 90 km/h! Kinda cool. :-)
Maybe, I will write more about the trip later, but to be honest, I doubt it. ;-)

Uh well, finally I am able to update this blog a little.
Been quite busy with my graduation thesis lately. However, I am *nearly* done now. I need to correct some things and then I will hand it in a couple of days. Yay! :)
Maybe you saw the latest photos already. The few times I was able to get away from my laptop, I spent in the beautiful sun. We had some very nice last summer days in Vancouver. Went to Bowen Island for some hike. Quite nice.
Also went to Deep Cove and tried Ocean Kayaking for the first time. Really cool. Even saw a seal in the water.
Last night, I tried something different. I went to the first Conversation Cafe in Vancouver. I was organized by the editor of Common Ground - a local magazine. This is how their flyer describes the concept of Conversation Cafes: Conversation Cafes are free, hosted, drop-in conversations in public places among people with diverse views and a shared passion for engaging with others. A minimal set of agreements and a simple process create the shift from "small talk" to "big talk".
In reality it means that a bunch of people meet in a cafe and talk about a certain subject. In groups of eight people per table (with a total of 6 tables), we talked about Independent Media. My group consisted of a couple in their sixties, a couple in their twenties, a fifty-years-old man who once had his own radio show, a quiet man in his late twenties and an about thirtyfive-years-old woman. Quite a mixed group, eh?
I doubt that I would have talked to any of these guys on a normal evening. But last night it was interesting, friendly and quite nice.
In two weeks the subject is going to be "The conversation that I want to have..." - just somebody from the past or present that you would like to talk to. Could be interesting.
More information can be found on conversationcafe.ca.
