Canada 2003

So here I am back in Germany. The flight wasn't really great. Nowadays, I don't really get excited to fly anymore. It basically means stress and boredom to sit there still for ten hours plus the whole airport stuff...
Oh, here is one final story from Vancouver: when I walked into a 7/11 and asked the cashier where I could return a bunch of empty batteries, I only received a big smile: "Ah, you are from Europe, eh? Well, we don't recycle like you guys do. Just throw them away." Ah, Canada... ;-)
Well, I had a great time in Canada and I am sure that I will miss a lot of things and people there. Now I will see what happens next. :-)
The last photos are uploaded and I close this blog now.

Welcome to my last post in Vancouver, BC.
This is not going to be great cause I am not feeling great.
I actually only realized that I am really going to leave this wonderful city behind when I started to pack my suitcase.
So now my apartment is empty, but my heart is full of memories. Everything is organized - as always - and there is no thinking involved. I will meet Alan at 11.00 tomorrow, catch a bus to the airport, check in, wait some time, fly to Germany, arrive home. There is nothing that I really have to do.
Tonight, I had a chance to meet everybody at FatPort again. We all went to the Harbour Centre Christmas Party. It was fun. I talked with everybody and seriously, I think those guys were just awesome to work with. I definitely will miss each and every one.
Well, this is it for real now. I am off and close this Candian Blog of mine. I had a great time and I am looking forward to a new world.
Thanks for reading this.

So this is it. My last weekend in Vancouver.
Been there, done that, got some beers. :P
Actually, it was quite fun, everybody at FatPort came to the Irish Heather on Friday. And it was the start of a fun night. Malcolm's and Paul's belly contest was clearly the highlight. :-)) Chris also had a nice evening.. and ended up on Malcolm's couch... ;-) Well, after the Irish Heather, we went to the Side Door and met the other guys. It was nice, although the Side Door was completely empty... In the end, we had some drinks and food at Cactus Club.
Saturday was fun, too. :-) I went to the Empire Landmark's Revolving Restaurant and said Goodbye to Cindy. Afterwards, I met with Dan and we chatted a little at my place. At about 10, we met the others - Daniela, Jayant, Sybille, Sandra and Kathrin plus friends - at the Lamplighter. Stayed till 2 and Daniela, Dan and me had some burgers at the DV8. Nicely done. :-)
Today, I met with Russ and returned the bike. Later I watched waydowntown at Daniela's place. To be honest, this movie was weird... way too many psychos in one movie. Filmed in Calgary's Walkway and that's why I wanted to see it.
Well, now I sit here and sort things. I even started to pack a little... My flight is on Wednesday at about 3pm. Oh well...

We - Daniela, Sybille, Jayant and me - wanted to see L'auberge Espagnole at the movies last night. However, I got the time wrong and the movie wasn't playing at 7pm but at 9.30pm... We didn't bother to wait and rented Finding Nemo instead. I have to say that this is a really good & funny movie. I liked it a lot.
On another note, I started my last week at FatPort.... mmmh... :-/

First of all, it was a nice clear day, so I spent it outside cycling through this City. I liked it. Sometimes the breathe was a little chilly, but most of the time, I took it easy and just looked around. Different neighbourhoods, I haven't yet been to.
I ended up at Queen Elizabeth Park. It is on Cambie @ 33rd. Realy nice. From there you have a good overview of the City. I took some photos.
Later, I finished (and rewatched) 'waking life'. It is definitely worthwhile. Check out the homepage for an idea what it is like.

Spent my second last weekend in Vancouver. Weird thought. Thursday was 'Punk Rock Bingo' at the Cobalt. Dan and me went and - although we didn't win - we had a fun night. On Friday, Jayant cooked Indian food for a bunch of people. Was nice and yummy. And on Saturday I had to catch up with things at work. Later I watched 'waking life' - a really good movie.
The sun is shining and I am out and about.

Seriously, I will never post any important things to a blog like this. This is more a collection of things that I did in the last couple of days - in case you haven't noticed. ;-)
Well, I went to the Placebo concert last week and *very* much liked it. We've been with a rather large (about 10?) group of people and it was fun. But most imporant: Placebo was way better than I expected. *So good!* :-)
On Saturday, we - again, a group of six or so - been to the Atlantic - Trap and Gill. This is a nice pub just around the corner from my place. It says 'taste of the east coast' and Dan felt like in a museum-version of a Halifax pub. :-) Later we lined up at the Atlantis. But after waiting for a while in the 'ordinary people' queue (they also have a VIP queue... *cough*), we left and enjoyed some drinks at the Richard's on Richards. I liked it. :-)
Uh, on Thursday is my last exam... please keep your fingers crossed that everything works out fine.
Oh, I cycled around the seawall and through Stanley Park a bit today. You can find the new photos on my pix page. It was really nice to see this part of Vancouver again. *sigh*
